Ongoing operation in Syria does not include Aleppo, claims Russia

Russia’s deputy foreign minister claimed on Wednesday that the ongoing military operation in Syria does not include Aleppo. Sergei Ryabkov also noted that Russian air strikes hit their targets “precisely,” Moheet.com has reported. Quoting Russia Today, the Egyptian news website stressed that the strikes are currently concentrated on Idlib and Homs.

Meanwhile, Ryabkov announced that Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov is to meet with his American counterpart John Kerry on the fringe of the Asia-Pacific Economic Cooperation Forum summit in Peru. He said that both officials will discuss the Syria crisis, in addition to the Ukrainian file and other issues of mutual interest. He added that contacts between Russian and US troops have not stopped.

It is noteworthy that Moscow has launched a “large-scale” military operation against “terrorists” in the Syrian provinces of Idlib and Homs. However, large-scale destruction in Aleppo was reported on Wednesday.
