US ambassador to UN announces ‘list of shame’ for Assad regime

November 22, 2016 at 12:10 pm

United States Ambassador to the UN, Samantha Power, announced a “list of shame” for the Assad regime in Syria that includes seven military and security officials, Moheet.com reported yesterday.

Power announced the names during a UN Security Council meeting, describing the officials mentioned in the list as “criminals of the Assad regime”. She accused them of committing “crimes against civilians”.

Meanwhile, she accused Russia and the Syrian regime of “destroying” Syria, noting that “killing civilians does not end terror, but nurture it.”

She also criticised Russian denial of involvement in targeting civilians and hospitals in Syria, noting that the Russian and Syria fighters targeted during the days before the summit five hospitals.

The US ambassador called for Russia and Syria to “immediately” stop violence against civilians and facilitate dropping humanitarian and medical aid to the Syrian people.

Five hospitals in the Syrian areas controlled by opposition groups were targeted between 13 and 15 November, they are no longer functioning.
