Egypt’s Minister of Supply and Internal Trade Mohammad Ali Meselhy has appointed the Armed Forces Major General Sherif Adel Bassili as the new chairman of the Egyptian Holding Company for Silos and Storage as an initial step to forming a new board for the company, ministry sources revealed.

Bassili represented the Armed Forces Engineering Authority in the fact-finding committee which was formed by the Egyptian parliament to investigate the local wheat supply corruption case. He currently oversees the wheat quantities’ measuring activities.

Last June, Egypt’s House of Representatives formed a fact-finding committee following reports of corruption in supplying wheat to the government.

Meselhy added that the decision aims to apply new strategies that conform with the ministry’s development plan, which would require high profiles of workers.
