Hamas hailed the ruling issued yesterday by an Egyptian court which cleared ousted President Mohamed Morsi in the case known as “espionage with Hamas”, News 24 reported.

“This ruling proves that the Palestinian cause is on the right path and Egypt acts equally towards all Palestinian factions,” said Hamas spokesman Sami Abu Zuhri.

The Egyptian Court of Appeal accepted the appeal filed by Morsi and other Muslim Brotherhood members and annulled the death sentences decreed at their trial in June last year. They had been accused of handing state secrets to Hamas and other foreign institutions and states, including Lebanon’s Hezbollah and Qatar, which all denied the accusations.
