Saudi minister accuses Iran of controlling Iraqi foreign ministry

November 24, 2016 at 4:57 pm

The Saudi Minister of State for Arab Gulf Affairs and former Ambassador to Baghdad, Thamir Al-Sabhan, said Iran controls the Iraqi foreign ministry.

“It is such a catastrophe that an Arab ministry serves the interests of Iran,” the Saudi minister wrote on Twitter yesterday.

The Iraqi foreign ministry this week said accusations that the Yemeni Houthis had fired missiles towards Makkah lacked proof.

This came in response to an Organisation of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) decision to take international actions against such attacks should they reoccur.

Arab Coalition forces, led by Saudi Arabia, accused Houthi rebels of firing a missile towards Makkah region on 27 October.
