Morsi’s son arrested in Cairo

December 8, 2016 at 3:47 pm

Security forces have arrested the son of ousted President Mohamed Morsi, an Egyptian official has confirmed.

Little information on the arrest of Osama Morsi has been released other than how he has been wanted by the Egyptian authorities on charges of inciting violence.

Osama was arrested at his house in the Nile Delta earlier today according to the anonymous official who is allegedly not authorised to brief the press on the arrest.

Mohamed Morsi was freely elected as president in 2012 before he was ousted by a military coup lead by current President Abdel Fatah Al-Sisi in 2013.

Morsi remains imprisoned and has recently had one of his life-sentences adjourned by an Egyptian court. He has been banned from receiving any family visits or to access lawyers for the last three years.
