Bodies pulled from the wreck of an EgyptAir plane crash that crashed into the Mediterranean earlier this year were found to have traces of explosives according to Egypt’s Civil Aviation Ministry.

All 66 passengers that were on board flight MS804 died on impact when the plane crashed en route to Cairo from Paris in May.

A criminal investigation has been launched to look into the possibility that a bomb was planted on the plane and was the main cause behind the crash.

Initial reports from the Airbus A320’s black boxes stated that a fire behind the flight deck started and also recorded there was substantial heat and thick black smoke.

During the manslaughter investigation in June, French authorities concluded that there was no evidence to suggest that the disaster was terror-related.

None of the crew members on board made a distress call and further radar data suggests that the plane turned sharply and quickly before hitting the water.

Prosecutor Agnes Thibault-Lecuivre stated that any new evidence found could change the findings.

No group claimed responsibility for the crash but suspicion surrounded Daesh affiliates in the Sinai Peninsula after they downed a Russian plane in 2015 killing all 226 people on board.
