The Tunisian government yesterday pledged to prosecute those involved in the assassination of Tunisian engineer Mohamed Al-Zawari both at home and abroad.

“The Tunisian State is committed to protecting its citizens; it will prosecute the perpetrators of the crime in Tunisia and abroad in line with international treaties,” the Prime Minister’s Office said in a statement.

The statement explained that the latest investigations revealed that foreigners were involved in Zo Al-Zawari’s assassination.

Meanwhile, Parliament Speaker Mohammed Nasser said a plenary session would be held to discuss Al-Zawari assassination.

The Tunisian General Confederation of Labour (CGTT) condemned the “assassination of Tunisian martyr Mohamed Al-Zawari outside his home in Sfax”, describing it as a “violation of national sovereignty”.

CGTT has also called on the Tunisian government to open an investigation into the event, “especially as the Zionist entity is called into question” in this case.
