Minister calls Tunisia’s youth to have for greater confidence in the state

Tunisian Minister of Youth Affairs and Sports, Majdouline Cherni, yesterday called for the restoration of confidence between youth and state institutions.

“We must restore trust between Tunisian youth and state institutions,” Cherni said in remarks to the Anadolu Agency on the sidelines of the National Youth Congress.

Cherni added 1,250 youth forums have been organisation recently involving 40,650 youth members of society in various educational and cultural fields, in addition to the participation of 22,000 more people on social networking sites.

The two-day conference comes as 15 young people went on hunger strike in the capital on Monday to demand jobs. The government was being held responsible got the activists’ actions.

Unemployment has increased to 15.6 per cent in the second quarter of 2016 compared to 15.4 per cent in the first quarter.
