Palestinian Authority (PA) President Mahmoud Abbas received on Thursday a delegation of former Israeli MKs and ministers in his offices at the West Bank city of Ramallah, Quds Press reported yesterday.

During the meeting with the Israelis, Abbas reiterated the efforts of the PA leadership to achieve a permanent and just peace based on the resolutions of the international community.

Abbas stressed that the latest UN Security Council on a resolution against Israeli settlement is a “real victory for the peace camp” for both the Palestinian and Israeli sides.

He noted that this resolution opens the door for new serious negotiations leading to the end of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict based on the two-state solution and the resolutions of the international community and the Arab Peace Initiative.

Meanwhile, the Israeli delegation evaluated Abbas’ support for peace and the two-state solution through negotiations, stressing on the importance of cooperation between the two sides in the fields of environment and water resources as they are “the most important issues for both sides.”
