Israel cooperates with Russia on its air strikes and military operations in Syria, an Algerian writer and political analyst claimed on Friday. Anwar Malik also stressed his belief that the Syrian regime of Bashar Al-Assad and the Iranians are no more than tools used by the "bigger players" in the region.

"If Israel carries out a military operation in Syria," he wrote on Twitter, "it would be in full cooperation with Russia. The Iranian mercenaries and the Assad idiots are just tools used in an international plot that is bigger than their sectarian mentality."

On Friday, the Israeli air force targeted one of Syria's air force bases to the west of Damascus, Anadolu and Russia's Sputnik news agencies reported.
