Turkey detains 43 illegal immigrants en route to Europe

Turkish authorities have detained 43 illegal immigrants in Edirne Province, north-west of the country while planning to cross into Europe illegally.

Security sources told Anadolu news agency on Tuesday that the gendarmerie units in Edirne province were patrolling some villages when they located the migrants.

The sources said migrants were from Afghanistan, Syria, Morocco and Germany.

The detainees were transferred to the immigration Department in the State after completing formal proceedings.
