Hussain Sajwani, executive chairman of the Emirati property company, DAMAC, announced that the company will continue working on the golf course project with the Trump Organisation, despite US President-elect, Donald Trump’s announcement it had ended.

Sajwani told Saudi Arabia’s television channel, Al-Arabiya, on the side lines of the Davos World Economic Forum yesterday, “one of the two golf courses will open during the first quarter of this year.”

“The second golf course is under construction. There was talk recently by the Trump Organisation about a $2 billion offer, and we confirmed this.”

During his first press conference on 11 January, Trump said he rejected an offer from executive chairman of the Emirati property company, Hussain Sajwani, to make a $2 billion deal in Dubai because he wanted to avoid any conflicts of interest during his presidency.

DAMAC properties gave a statement to the media immediately following the above stating that: “DAMAC can confirm that the discussions took place as stated in the media briefing but the proposals were declined. These proposals were for a variety of different property deals”. This page was updated at 10:58 GMT  on 26/01/2017.
