Rights group launches campaign to boycott Israeli goods

The World Campaign to End the Siege on Gaza organisation has launched a campaign to boycott Israeli goods in the Muslim world.

The campaign aims to fight the Israeli economy and support local economies in Muslim countries instead by stopping the import of materials and goods that support the Israeli occupation.

The campaign also seeks to increase Arab and Muslim peoples’ support for the Palestinians.

The second phase of the campaign includes field visits to shops and businesses in various Arab and Muslim countries to invite them not to import goods from Israel or the US, which is deemed to be a strong supporter of Israeli policy against the Palestinians.

A spokeswoman of the campaign’s media committee, Dr Manal Awawda, said the new campaign aims to besiege the Israeli occupation which imposes a blockade on the people of the Gaza Strip and has committed massacres against them.

“The boycott is a peaceful and legal means of resistance and not a substitute for it. The World Campaign to End the Siege on Gaza believes the boycott would hurt the Israeli enemy not only on the economic level but on the political, social and international levels.”

Awawda explained that the campaign also includes raising awareness of the dangers of supporting the Israeli occupation and the US economically through audio-visual media and social media.
