PLO calls for halt of security cooperation with Israel

Member of PLO’s Executive Committee Yasser Abed Rabbo yesterday called for halting security cooperation with Israel and reviewing relations with it at all levels, the Safa news agency reported.

He stressed that Israel should be held accountable for its actions in front of the International Criminal Court especially after the Knesset voted to legalise illegal settlement outposts. He referred to the ruling as a “war crime”.

Abed Rabbo also called for the immediate implementation of the recommendations of the PLO’s Central Council, issued two years ago, which called for halting security cooperation with Israel, forming a national unity government and convening the National Council.

The recommendations also included the adoption of a comprehensive programme for defending the Palestinian land ahead of judaisation policies and standing up against the Israeli-American attempt to change the balance of power.

He considered the approval of the “regulation bill”, which retroactively legalises outposts built in the occupied territories, as an “unprecedented” measure which would lead to more “theft” of Palestinian land and change the contours of the occupied West Bank and Jerusalem.
