US President Donald Trump, has taken to Twitter to defend the US Navy SEALs operation that killed an eight-year-old girl in Yemen.

Anger sparked across the world after the death of Nawar and scores of other civilians at the hands of the US military. US serviceman, Chief Petty Officer William “Ryan” Owens, whom Trump honoured in the tweet, was also killed during the raid.

Shortly after the operation, Trump claimed the operation to be a success and honoured Owens for his service. Both he and his daughter, Ivanka, attended the dignified transfer ceremony of the US serviceman and expressed his condolences to his family. Trump completely ignored the civilian casualties.

Despite the evidence presented before the Trump administration and the rest of the world, the US military merely stated that it was “likely” that civilians were killed during the raid.

Trump hailed the operation as a success and said it and has led to the US obtaining “important intelligence that will assist the US in preventing terrorism against its citizens and people around the world.”
