Tunisia affirms support for legitimate government in Yemen

Tunisian Foreign Minister Khemaies Jhinaoui yesterday reiterated his country’s support for the legitimate Yemeni government and its quest to restore stability and security.

Jhinaoui made his remarks during a press statement after a bilateral meeting with the Yemeni Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs, Abdel Malak Abdeljalil Al-Mekhlafi, who is leading a delegation to the North African nation.

Al-Mekhlafi said the legitimate government of Yemen is committed to peace and the agreements which result from the national dialogue which involved all parties to the conflict, in addition to the UN resolutions to resolve the crisis.

During the visit, Al-Mekhlafi is expected to meet Tunisian President Beji Caid Essebsi to build support for the path of political settlement in Yemen, based on the Gulf Cooperation Council initiative and the UN Security Council resolutions.
