13 Egyptians kidnapped in Libya released

The Egyptian army announced on Tuesday that it had secured the release of 13 Egyptian citizens kidnapped by an armed group in the northeastern Libyan city of Ajdabia.

The army said in a statement that the release came after coordination with the General Command of the Libyan armed forces.

The Egyptian authorities arranged for the deportation of the victims back to Egypt and contacted their families, the statement said.

The Egyptian military also thanked the Libyan army for what it called “constructive and fruitful cooperation in ending the kidnapped Egyptians crisis.”
