Iraq is keen to establish close ties with Russia, Parliament Speaker Saleem Al-Jubouri said today.
Speaking during a meeting with the Russian Ambassador to Iraq, Maxim Maximov, Al-Jabouri said Daesh had started regressing and its morale is wavering as Iraqi forces progress in their recapture of Mosul.
The two officials discussed the latest political and security situation in Iraq and the region, particularly the Iraqi army’s war on Daesh.

For his part, the Russian ambassador expressed his country’s interest in maintaining relations with Iraq and to develop a way to achieve their common interests and strengthen ties of cooperation at all levels.
Maximov said that Russia is a key supporter of Iraq in its war against Daesh.
