Cairo airport security scrutinised by US, UK experts

February 21, 2017 at 9:42 am

Four aviation security experts from the US Department of Transportation (TSA) and a delegation from the British Department of Transport inspected security measures at Cairo International Airport yesterday, informed sources at the airport said.

The sources said that the security experts inspected security procedures taken to secure passengers, luggage and cargo, especially on flights heading to the United States and UK as part of regular inspections which take place every few months.

The Egyptian tourism industry was been badly hit following the downing of a Russian passenger plane which took off from Sharm El-Sheikh airport in 2015. All 224 passengers and crew on board were killed.
