Russia will deliver MiG-29 fighter aircrafts to Egypt on schedule, Moscow’s Federal Service for Military-Technical Cooperation (FSMTC) Deputy Director Alexei Frolkin said yesterday.

“The delivery will be carried out within the period set out in the contract,” Frolkin told reporters at the IDEX 2017 exhibition in Abu Dhabi, UAE.

The contract, reportedly initiated after Russian President Vladimir Putin’s meeting with the Egyptian leadership in February 2014, is the largest order for the MiG-29 jets in the post-Soviet period, Russia’s Sputnik news agency reported.

The agency said the contract on the delivery of 46 MiG-29 Fulcrum multirole fighters set the delivery deadline as 2020.
