Qatar to provide 1m jobs in the Arab world by 2020

Chairperson of Qatar Foundation for Education, Science and Community Development, Sheikha Moza bint Nasser said the foundation intends to provide more than one million jobs by 2020, in various parts of the Arab world, including Tunisia.

In a statement issued following her meeting with Tunisian President, Beji Caid Essebsi, Sheikha Moza said: “Tunisia is full of creative youth who are capable to contribute to economic development” adding that the Qatar Foundation is willing to continue cooperation initiated years ago in Tunisia and “contribute to reducing unemployment rates among young people, especially in the internal areas”.

The rate of unemployment in Tunisia reached 15.5 per cent during the last quarter of last year compared with 15.6 per cent in the third quarter of the same year, according to official figures.

Sheikha Moza is visiting Tunisia at the invitation of the Tunisian prime minister to follow-up on various cooperation projects between Tunisia and the Qatar Foundation.
