Israeli court issues 4 life terms against Palestinian prisoner

Israeli military court in Ofer Prison issued on Sunday four life terms against a Palestinian prisoner from the West Bank city of Hebron, Quds Press reported.

The Israeli Channel 7 TV identified the Palestinian prisoner as Mohamed Abdel-Basset Al-Harroub, 24, from Deir Samt in the west of Hebron.

Israel accuses Al-Harroub of killing two Jewish settlers and wounding two others in a shoot-out in November 2015 that took place in street 337 connecting the illegal settlements of Gush Etzion and Alon Shvut.

According to the indictment, Al-Harroub shot 75 bullets at the settlers and continued his attack after the bullets had run out.

The court also demanded that the prisoner pay $62,000 in compensation to the families of the deceased settlers within a three-year period.

It is worth mentioning that in an attempt to deter other “would-be terrorists”, the Israeli authorities have demolished the house of Al Harroub as part of a “collective punishment” imposed on the families of what Israel calls “terrorist” attackers.
