One hundred and fifty five Nigerians voluntarily returned home from Libya yesterday, after unsuccessful attempts to cross the Mediterranean meant they had been detained in the north African country. Two weeks earlier another group of 171 Nigerians returned home.
The International Organisation for Migration (IOM) helped negotiate with prisons and detention camps in Libya to secure their release. Since 2001 the IOM has helped some 7,000 Nigerians return home from various countries.
