A warplane belonging to Libyan strongman Khalifa Haftar today carried out airstrikes against the Tamanhant Air Base in southern Libya, a military source said.

Commander of the Third Force of the Al-Wefaq government, Jamal Triki, said the Tamanhant Air Base facilities were hit this morning by air raids carried out by a plane belonging to the forces of the Tobruk- based parliament led by Haftar.

“The damage was only physical, without any casualties among the forces stationed at the base,” Triki told the Anadolu Agency.

He explained that Al-Wefaq is still in control at the Tamanhant Air Base and will work to address any ground attack.
