35 terrorists killed in Algeria in 2017

Thirty-five terrorists have been killed and 18 arrested by Algeria’s National People’s Army (ANP) in the first quarter of 2017, according to El-Djeich magazine.

Armed forces have also recovered 272 different weapon calibres, 15,897 types of ammunition as well as about 242 vehicles and trucks used by designated terrorist groups.

In regards to the fight against organised crime, ANP forces have reportedly neutralised hundreds of smugglers, drug traffickers and arrested nearly 3,000 illegal migrants.

Algeria’s counter-terrorism operations have been largely successful in localising terror threats and controlling violence from militant groups.

Last week ANP forces killed the head of the Algerian branch of Daesh in an operation which foiled a reported suicide attempt in the city of Constantine.
