For the third day, Syrian regime forces continued their strikes in Damascus, Daraa and Idlib, while the Syrian opposition warded off its attacks in Aleppo and Hama, the Safa news agency reported yesterday.

Reporting activists, Safa said that the regime forces launched areal strikes and tank attacks in the Damascus neighbourhoods of Teshreen, Al-Qaboun and Barzah.

The activists stated that the regime forces used explosive-filled hoses that cause massive destruction at the same time as attempting to raid the neighbourhoods.

Regime fighters also carried out heavy strikes in the neighbourhoods controlled by the opposition in Daraa, south of the country.

Sources said that the strikes caused “widespread” destruction in the neighbourhoods. The majority of residents fled these areas over the last three months.

In Idlib, north of the country, activists reported that a number of civilians were killed or wounded due to the Syrian regime and Russian airstrikes that targeted cities and neighbourhoods controlled by the opposition.

In addition, the activists also reported civilians targeted by phosphorous gas carried out by the regime aircrafts. They said that the attacks of internationally-banned phosphorous caused much destruction.
