Fatah ‘has not yet informed’ Hamas about Gaza visit

April 17, 2017 at 1:45 pm

Hamas spokesman Ismail Ridwan said on Sunday that the movement has not received any calls or requests to meet with a Fatah delegation supposedly going to Gaza to discuss an end to Palestine’s internal divisions, Sama news has reported. He insisted that Hamas welcomes anyone who wishes to visit the territory and is willing to talk with the de facto government.

The spokesman added that Hamas has decided that any meeting with Fatah would not just be between representatives of the two major factions. Ridwan explained:

Hamas took an official decision that any meeting with Fatah will not be bilateral…It must be in the national context and other factions will be invited to attend.

Fatah has been saying for more than a week that a delegation will visit Gaza and sit with Hamas to discuss mechanisms of ending the internal split.
