Jordan’s King Abdullah II led his army in a military exercise using live ammunition; a video published yesterday by the Royal Court appears to show.

The 55-year-old monarch is seen in full military gear, with a machine gun that appeared to be M16, in a war-like simulated environment.

The video received tens of thousands of views, likes and shares within an hour of its publication.

The Jordanian king joined his country’s armed forces as lieutenant colonel and served as a platoon commander and assistant commander in the fortified brigade of the 40th Brigade after returning from Britain, where he joined the Royal Military Academy, Sandhurst in 1980, according to the Jordanian Armed Forces General Command.
