Egypt’s Administrative Court rejected on Sunday a lawsuit filed by the legal representative of Qatar’s Al-Jazeera Mubasher Egypt, Mohammed Abdul Sattar, to regain the channel’s license to legally operate in country after it was withdrawn by the General Authority for Investment and Free Zones (GAFI).

The lawsuit, accused GAFI’s chairman and the Director of the Cairo Commercial Registry Office of violating the law.

Al-Jazeera’s legal attorney explained that the Chairman of GAFI has suspended the channel’s license to operate in Egypt under the pretext of violating the press law, requesting the company to adhere to the authority’s licensing requirements, an action that was later taken by Al-Jazeera management. However, the channel’s license was withdrawn by GAFI.
