The group will meet US officials to discuss the agenda for the presidential meeting scheduled for 3 May. Observers regard the meeting as very important in the light of Trump’s apparent desire to broker serious negotiations between the PA and the Israelis with the objective of finding a solution for the 70-year-old conflict.

The Palestinian sources said that Abbas and Trump are expected to concentrate on the economy and security. They expect Abbas to ask Trump to put pressure on Israel to stop illegal settlement building in the occupied Palestinian territories. Financial support will also be requested in order to ease the hardships faced by the Palestinians.
