Senior officer in the Iraqi army revealed yesterday that there are only three foreign Daesh brigades in Mosul, noting that all other western neighbourhoods are currently under the army’s control, the Anadolu Agency reported.

Speaking to Anadolu, the officer said: “We receive detailed intelligence information about the enemy in the old neighbourhoods of Mosul. Currently, there are three Daesh brigades most of their members are foreigners.”

He counted: “The Uzbek Brigade, the Igor Brigade and Tariq Ben Ziyad Brigade and a very few local terrorists,” noting that most of the members of Tariq Ben Ziyad Brigade speak French.

“The enemy is under full siege,” the officer said, “therefore, the foreign terrorists are fighting ferociously and we are trying to get rid of them with the least amount of losses.”
