Son of Palestinian hunger striker and Fatah leader Marwan Barghouthi launched a campaign to raise global attention to the suffering of Palestinian prisoners.

Aarab Marwan Barghouthi launched a campaign in solidarity with the 1,560 Palestinian prisoners who began their hunger strike last week in protest against the inhumane treatment they receive in Israeli prisons.

The campaign, called the Salt water Challenge, is similar to the famous Ice Bucket Challenge, where individuals are challenged to drink a glass of water mixed with salt similar to that consumed by the prisoners during their hunger strike. Once they complete the challenge, individuals can challenge others to do the same.

Barghouthi has passed the challenge on to Palestinian singer and winner of Arab Idol Mohammed Assaf who has also completed the challenge.
