May 11, 2017 at 3:01 pm

Tunisia’s President Beji Caid Essebsi yesterday warned that the democratic process in the country is seriously under threat, pointing out that for the first time a president has been elected.

Essebsi stressed that the Tunisian revolution has achieved significant gains and overthrew an autocratic and authoritarian regime, adding that young people were the leaders of the revolution and “thanks to democracy, we are at the forefront of the countries in the world”.

The Tunisian president stressed that “everyone supports the national unity government”.

He added that legislative elections will take place as scheduled in 2019.
