Israel’s Minister of Construction and Housing, Yoav Galant, said on Tuesday that, “The time has come to assassinate Assad.” He made his comment at a conference in the Zionist state, The Times of Israel reported.

“In my view, we are crossing a red line,” said the former head of the Israeli occupation forces’ Southern Command. “In my view, the time has come to assassinate [Syrian President Bashar] Assad. It is as simple as that.”

He suggested that the reality of the situation in Syria, “where they are executing people, using chemical attacks,” is reason enough to kill the Syrian leader.

With an overt reference to the Holocaust, the minister said that the burning of corpses is something that has not been seen for 70 years. This followed the US claim that the Assad regime is burning the corpses of political prisoners killed in its notorious Sednaya Prison near Damascus. The regime has denied the allegation. Nevertheless, Galant described its actions as “genocide”.

The assassination of Assad, he insisted, would be “cutting the tail of the snake,” after which, “we can focus on the head, which is in Tehran.”
