Syrian men arrested for escaping conscription

Syrian regime security and army forces have arrested scores of young men in the city of Lattakia for escaping compulsory and voluntary army service.

The Lattakia News Network published on Facebook that the regime’s forces are preparing to call men born between 1976 to 1984 in addition to another 71,000 standby recruits covering all governorates.

A local source in Lattakia reported that some women had attacked a military police patrol a few days ago for arresting their relative who had escaped conscription.

It is believed that more than 50,000 young people have fled military service to the mountains, especially after the increase in the death toll amongst regime forces.

A source in the field, who asked not to be named, said a new batch of 200 Lebanese Hezbollah fighters had arrived to support the Syrian regime in Deir ez-Zour as reinforcements of ammunition arrived through helicopters from the Qamishli Airport in northeast Syria.
