British Ambassador to Khartoum, Michael Aron, has praised Sudan’s pivotal role in the fight against illegal immigration, terrorism and extremism and its contribution to tackling many crises in the region, particularly in South Sudan and Libya.

During a meeting with the Undersecretary of the Sudanese Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ambassador Abdul Ghani Al-Naeem, on Sunday, Aron stressed the UK’s commitment to the agreement to develop bilateral relations in the political, economic, cultural and scientific fields.

“The meeting comes as part of the follow-up to the implementation of the third round of the strategic dialogue held recently in Khartoum,” the British ambassador said.

He revealed that he had addressed British companies to urge them to develop trade and investment cooperation with Sudan.

Meanwhile, Al-Naeem pointed out that areas of cooperation and coordination between the two countries are capable to make a quantum leaps in the level of relations between the two countries, adding that the coming period will witness a new phase of cooperation in many areas, including the exchange of visits at high levels, which was confirmed by the British ambassador who announced that the Sudanese Foreign Minister, Ibrahim Ghandour, will visit Britain soon.

Al-Naeem called on Britain to exert pressure on the rest of the rebel movements to push them towards dialogue and peaceful negotiations and agreeing to a cessation of hostilities.
