Egypt has recovered 65 million metres of state land which had been illegal appropriated, President Abdel Fattah Al-Sisi said.

“Five months ago, both the army and the police were assigned to restore this land, but their efforts were not sufficient to cope with these encroachments on the territory of the state,” Al-Sisi said in an address to Egyptians at a conference on the elimination of encroachments on state land.

He called for renewing the discussions between the different ministries and bodies and to increase the speed of solving the problems over the land. He pointed out that the state is not responsible for building facilities for the 65 million metres which have been illegally settled.

The president stressed the importance of facing the challenge facing Egypt at the economic level with honesty and transparency.
