Senators vote against Saudi-US arms deal

June 14, 2017 at 12:54 pm

Forty-seven US Senators have voted against the US-Saudi Arms deal worth $510million, Human Rights Watch has reported. It is, said the organisation, an important message.

The senators fell just three votes short of blocking the deal and stopping the sale of advanced weapon systems to the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. This level of support,” commented HRW, “could be a game-changer. Hopefully, it is the beginning of the end for US cooperation in Saudi-led coalition abuses in Yemen.”
