Algerian MPs form Qatar solidarity committee

June 16, 2017 at 4:21 pm

A group of Algerian MPs have announced the formation of a parliamentary committee in solidarity with Qatar. The 31 parliamentarians hope that it will expand its work to neighbouring countries.

A statement by the committee published by the Algerian daily Al-Khabar on Thursday described the blockade imposed on Qatar as “unjust” and criticised the extensive political and media campaign against Doha and Qatari institutions that are active in supporting the Palestinians.

The committee will work to raise awareness of the real motive behind the conspiracy against Qatar, which the MPs believe is to liquidate the legitimacy of the Palestinian cause. It called on civil, political, partisan and legal bodies and organisations in the Arab and Islamic world to stand united against this attack and expose it for what it really is.
