Ten minors and 13 mothers are amongst 54 Palestinian females being held in Israeli jails, the PLO’s Palestinian Committee of Prisoners’ Affairs revealed on Tuesday.

In a press release reported by the Shehab News Agency, the committee said: “As the Eid is approaching, the prisoners inside the Israeli jails are living emotional moments as they suffer harsh humanitarian, living and health situations, in addition to the feeling of loss and disconnection from their families.”

Among those prisoners, there are 13 mothers who are suffering the “bitterness, worry and tension” as they are separated from their children, the committee added.

Lawyer Hanan Al-Khatib highlighted the case of Sabah Mohamed Faroun from the occupied Jerusalem neighbourhood of Al-Eizariya who has been held under administrative detention for two years over claims she incited against Israel on social media.

Faroun was due to be released today but her detention has been renewed for a further three months. She has been left unable to celebrate Eid with her four children.
