Passengers reacted with anger after boarding an Air Cairo flight only to find there was no ventilation or air conditioning leading a number of passengers to faint.

A video circulating online shows the travellers requesting the aircraft’s door be opened in order to allow air into the plane, however the captain refuses.

Passengers can be seen flushed and obviously hot as the flight, which was scheduled to take off from Kuwait city and head to Borg El Arab International Airport in Alexandria, Egypt, was delayed by two hours.

Boarding began at 12:15am with take off expected at 1am, however it was delayed for two hours with travellers remaining on the plane.

Social media users said a number of the travellers lost consciousness due to the heat.

The situation was finally resolved when an Italian passenger came forward and threatened to call her embassy if the pilot didn’t open the door and allow people off.

Once they had disembarked, passengers were left to wait in the airport for several hours before a new plane was allocated to them.
