Israel extends detention of Khalida Jarrar

July 12, 2017 at 11:31 am

An Israeli occupation court extended the detention of the female Palestinian MP Khalida Jarrar for an extra 48 hours, the Safa news agency reported yesterday.

Jarrar, 53, from the West Bank city of Al-Bireh, is a senior leader of the Popular Front for the Liberation of Palestine.

According to the Asra Media Office, which tracks the arrest of the Palestinians, the extension of Jarrar’s detention was an effort to give the Israeli military prosecution enough time to prepare an indictment in order to issue an order for her administrative detention.

The Israeli occupation forces arrested Jarrar on 3 July.

Jarrar was released from prison on 3 June after she had served a 15-month sentence.
