Israeli centre calls for besieging Turkey after Qatar

Action should be taken to use the Gulf rift to impose a siege on Turkey, an Israeli think tank which is close to the government has said.

Quds Press reported that the Jerusalem Centre for Public Affairs (JCPA), headed by the former Deputy Israeli Foreign Minister Dore Gold, claimed that both Qatar and Turkey support terror and terrorist organisations. “This necessitates dealing with them the same way,” he said.

“Turkey host terrorists and offers military, logistic and financial support for terrorist Islamic groups active in Syria,” noting that blockading Turkey would force it to stop its support for terror.

It added: “In case [US President Donald] Trump supported the Arab Quartet in its campaign against Qatar, there would be a basis for taking the same measure when there is a campaign against Turkey and its President Recep Tayyip Erdogan.”

Quds Press reported the study centre reiterating that it has credible information that the Arab Quartet had started planning to take measures against Turkey due to its stance regarding the Gulf crisis.
