Saudi Arabia’s military has killed 20 Houthi fighters who were attempting to enter the country via the southern border yesterday, reported Al Arabiya.
The Houthi fighters fired several shells towards Saudi Arabia, before travelling towards the southern border in the Jazan area. Saudi forces detected the attempted incursion through thermal cameras at night and fired artillery shells on the Houthis.
The attempt to enter Saudi Arabia was an effort to create new battlefronts to launch ballistic missiles deeper into Saudi Arabia, according to the news site.
Regular incursions by the Iranian-backed Houthi group have forced Saudi Arabia to intensify surveillance of its southern border with Yemen and conduct military patrols to pre-empt attacks.
