Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas arrived in Beijing yesterday morning on an official three-day visit to China to meet with Chinese President Xi Jinping, Wafa reported.

Abbas was received by Chinese Deputy Foreign Minister Wang Yi and a number of officials. He is expected to meet his Chinese counterpart today to discuss the ongoing Israeli violations of the occupied Palestinian territories.

Foreign Minister Riyad Al-Maliki, advisor for economic affairs and chairman of the Palestinian Investment Fund Muhammad Mustafa, Supreme Judge Mahmoud Al-Habbash, official presidential spokesman Nabil Abu Rudeineh, diplomatic advisor Majdi Al-Khalidi, official media supervisor Ahmad Assaf, and Ambassador to China Fariz Mahdawi have accompanied him on the trip.

In April, Wang said Palestinians must be allowed to build an independent state. “This kind of historical injustice must be corrected. It cannot continue,” he added.
