The head of the Popular International Committee to Support Gaza has said that the struggle in Jerusalem will determine the future of the Palestinian cause. Dr Essam Yusuf made his comments in a press release issued on Sunday.

Calling on the people of Palestine not to surrender to Israeli blackmail, Dr Yusuf pointed out that they will fight to the end to ensure that Al-Aqsa remains Islamic property in the custody of the Palestinians. “The reaction of the Arab people confirm that the Palestinian issue is not forgotten and will not be forgotten,” he added. “The Palestinian factions should unite and declare the third Al-Aqsa Intifada.”

Yusuf stressed that the Palestinians in Jerusalem and beyond are required to break the occupation and continue to flow to Al-Aqsa Mosque. He cited recent and earlier UNESCO resolutions which prove that all of Jerusalem is occupied Palestinian territory and that the Noble Sanctuary of Al-Aqsa is restricted to Muslims.

In closing, the veteran activist called on charities to support the Palestinian people even more, and for legal institutions and human rights groups to seek the prosecution of Israeli leaders and soldiers for their ongoing breaches of international law.
