Russian airstrikes kill, wound dozens of civilians in Syria

Local sources said dozens of civilians were killed and wounded as a result of Russian airstrikes on a village and a camp for displaced people in the south-eastern countryside of Al-Raqqa on Sunday, and similar shelling on a town in the eastern suburb of Deir Ez-Zor.

The Furat Post reported on its Facebook page that the Russian warplanes committed a massacre against the village of Shuraida and the Juizat camp in the Raqqa province resulted in the killing and wounding of dozens of civilians.

The organisation, which documents violations in the north-eastern region of Syria, said that entire families were killed in the attack, pointing out that Jweizat Camp, which is located in areas controlled by Daesh, was completely burned as a result of the Russian airstrikes.

Meanwhile, the Raqqa is Being Slaughtered Silently campaign reported that Russian aircrafts have dropped leaflets on most of the villages and towns in the province’s eastern countryside, asking the residents to leave the area.

The Russian aircrafts have been carrying out intensive raids in the areas of Mardan and Sabkha, in the countryside of Raqqa to support Syrian regime forces which resulted in the death and injury of dozens of civilians and the displacement of many others who were forced towards the western village of Deir Ez-Zor.
