Five members of Hezbollah who had been imprisoned by Tahrir Al-Sham in Syria arrived in the Lebanese town of Qaa yesterday following a prisoner exchange deal, according to the Anadolu Agency.

A number of Tahrir Al-Sham fighters and their families were also returned to Idlib, after being in Lebanon’s Arsal, as part of the deal.

Hezbollah and Tahrir Al-Sham reached an agreement at the end of July, brokered by Abbas Ibrahim, the head of Lebanon’s General Security intelligence agency.

A Lebanese source told Anadolu that the exchange between the two sides occurred at the Sa’an Crossing in Hama, Syria.

The source also noted that the exchange occurred in five batches including the arrival of buses carrying the fighters and their families, as well as Syrian refugees in Arsal who wanted to accompany them to areas under the control of Tahrir Al-Sham. One Hezbollah prisoner was released in exchange for each batch.
