The Saudi-Yemeni border strip witnessed violent clashes yesterday between Houthi militias and Saudi forces, with the Kingdom’s fighters thwarting two attacks near ‘Asir and Al-Khubah in Jizan.

Over the past two weeks, there has been an increase in the frequency of clashes between the two sides in the border area.

Saudi media outlets reported that the Arab coalition’s Apache helicopters participated in yesterday’s clashes.

According to Saudi Arabia’s Al Arabiya news channel, the Kingdom’s army foiled an attack the Houthis were on the verge of carrying out against military surveillance points in Jizan, located on the border with Yemen.

The news channel also quoted military sources saying that Saudi forces were able to prevent attacks in small uninhabited Yemeni villages on the border, used by the militias as a place of gathering and back up.

It took the forces two hours to contain the situation and resulted in the death of dozens of Houthis and the destruction of several military vehicles loaded with artillery, according to the Anadolu Agency.
